HORROR FILM LECTURE

Horror and Society
by Alan Meades
Canterbury Christ Church University
Broadstairs Campus

A two hour lecture exploring the origins of horror films from European silent film, the American golden age of horror, the arrival of the Slasher, to Hammer Horror, videonasties and J-horror took place at the Canterbury Christ Church University Broadstairs Campus in September 2007. In addition to a historical perspective the lecture explored the links between horror and society asking the questions - why horror and why now? It is hoped that the lecture will be repeated (and updated) next year for the 2008 2 Days Later competition.
