HALLOWE'EN SCREENING EVENT 2011
THE THEATRE ROYAL MARGATE, 29th OCTOBER

"In a world where cinemas are increasingly populated by cheap sequels
and sub-standard remakes, 2 Days Later is an amazing way to find new
film talent."
2 Days Later Judge Mike Shaw

Two Days Later, Kent’s biggest Short Film Competition screening returns to The Theatre Royal, Margate on October 29th, 2011, with another creepy programme of Horror shorts just bursting with provocative interpretations of the genre.

Brought to you by Margate-based Beeping Bush Productions and The Theatre Royal, the organisers will drag back the heavy velvet curtains to reveal the dark and unwholesome fruits of 2 days’ labour, and our filmmakers’ warped imaginations!!!

From 632 downloads for the brief, from all over the world including New Zealand, Brazil and Rwanda! From Scotland, Wales to Cornwall, 55 UK film horrors came in.

Co- organiser, Mick Etherton, of Beeping Bush says: "There was a very competitive amount of top notch entries this year, 485 filmmakers were involved, creating their mini-epics, and so we have spent a very long and agonising time going through the selection process. It's a real psychological screamer for this year’s Judges Screenings. The shortlisted entries this year seem more psychological than slasher. You can see that a lot of work has gone into telling the story and script development."

We have had a lot of success with previous years’ film entries. Meat (2009) has now been developed into series, and two full feature film productions with our 2007 winner The Soldier, now having been transformed into The 4th Reich, starring Sean Pertwee; and likewise with the 2009 winner Dead Funny film crew having recently produced the comedy horror feature Attack of the Herbals.  So we have very high hopes for this year's crop of horrors too!"

The top 40 films are being screened, including 9 films were produced in Kent and 5 have made it to the Judges Shortlist.

Co-organiser, Mick Etherton, of Beeping Bush says: "There is nothing in the Kent film calendar more exciting than the 2 Days Later Horror competition screening, and in that vein we're terribly pleased to bring you our Feast of Gruesome Terror, Fearsome Zombie Mayhem and Generally Nasty Goings On."

As ever, there will be a splendid selection of horror short films for the judges to choose from; and the audience have a vote too for their favourite film of both the afternoon and evening screenings.

"Every year I see huge amounts of talent and creativity from brilliant people making movies in 2 days with no money. They all go on the list of Clever People I Must Destroy So They Don't Take My Job." 2 Days Later Judge James Moran

The horror-themed short films will be screened in two parts: Tales of Terror Screenings from 1:00pm, and the prestigious fancy dress Judges’ Shortlisted Evening screening, from 7:00 pm.  All entries will be screened to the ghoulish, to lovers of the macabre, and to the thrill-seeking masses, all in attended fancy dress!

The day will culminate with the 2 Days Later Award Presentations. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories including Best Film, Best Writer and Best Performance. There will also be an audience vote for most Popular Film. The filmmakers are competing for major prizes of a week’s free hire of PMW-F3/Nano Flash Cine kit  and an Alexa Experience course, and a large sensor camera course, courtesy of our sponsor VMI London Broadcast Rental. With bundles of other prizes too, donated by Gadds’ Ramsgate Brewery, Uber Torso and Future Copyright.
