HALLOWE'EN SCREENING EVENT 2008
THE THEATRE ROYAL MARGATE, 25th OCTOBER

Recently featured on ITV Meridian News on 7th October, the 2 Days Later is now in its sixth successful year and with over 175 films made especially for the competition. 37 films will be shown at the Halloween Screen Event, with entries from all over the UK, as far as Wrexham, Glasgow and Switzerland.

Beeping Bush Productions and Close-Up Film have announced this year’s shortlisted entries to the Margate-based 48hr filmmaking challenge, 2 Days Later. A Devils’ Dozen of 13 films have been selected for The Evening Competition Screening that will be screened at 7.00pm on Saturday 25th October at Margate’s Theatre Royal, followed by an awards ceremony.

The brief for the competition was to produce a short horror film of no more than ten minutes in length, within 48hrs.  Entrants had to feature three items from a given list as part of their film productions.

‘The filmmakers really got into the ‘spirit’ of the event.’ says 2 Days Later co-director, Mick Etherton. ‘Audiences can look forward to a very diverse and innovative programme this year and we guarantee will have them cowering in the aisles with fright! We have everything from Zombie Vikings, to Hammer House homage of The Spanish Inquisition, set in the rolling hills of Switzerland with a Britt Ekland look-a-like and spoken in Latin!'

‘'People really need to come along on the 25th for a taste of the atmosphere, take a fright, and appreciate the abundance of new filmmaking talent that we have here in the South East and beyond.'

Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories including Best Film, Best Writer and Best Performance.  There will also be an audience vote for most Popular Film.  The filmmakers are competing for the opportunity to develop their career by winning a week’s Broadcast Quality High Definition full camera kit hire from sponsors VMI High Definition and Broadcast, plus a year’s PR contract with Close-Up Film

Those films that narrowly missed the shortlist will be screened from 2.00pm and will also be eligible for an audience vote to gain a top prize of a Soho film Screening courtesy of sponsors VMI High Definition and Broadcast of London

The judging panel includes:
