Kim Newman is one of the UK’s most respected and prolific journalists, authors and broadcasters. Since the success of his first book, ‘Ghastly Beyond Belief: The Science Fiction & Fantasy Book of Quotations’ (1985), co-authored with Neil Gaiman, he has prodigiously produced novels, short stories, non-fiction books, critical texts, broadcasting work and journalism, across the widest of mediums. In 1992, he won the Children of the Night Award for Best Novel, from the Dracula Society, for ‘Anno Dracula’, in which Dracula is not dead but instead turns Queen Victoria and her court into vampires. His many other awards include The International Horror Guild Award for Best Long Fiction for ‘Coppola’s Dracula’ (1998), British Fantasy Award for Best Collection (2001) for ‘Where the Bodies are Buried’, and the 2006 Bram Stoker Award for Best Non-Fiction 2005 for ‘Horror: Another 100 Best Books’, co-edited with Stephen Jones.
Kim is a contributing editor for ‘Sight & Sound’ and ‘Empire’ magazines and his extensive list of journalist credits include Fangoria, Shivers, SFX, Film Extremes, Premiere, Time Out, Q, The Evening Standard, Sunday Times, The Guardian and The New Statesman, to name but a few. He has also provided the audio commentaries for many DVD releases including Amytiville II: The Possession, Countess Dracula, The Old Dark House, I Walked with a Zombie (Val Lewton Box Set) and Hands of the Ripper, and the DVD linear notes for Reservoir Dogs, The Ring Trilogy, The Sorcerers, Ghostwatch, Witchfinder General & Whistle and I’ll Come to You. He is a regular contributor to Channel 4’s ‘100 Best...’ series.
